MAX’S Ready to Drink (RTD) protein shakes are made using a special process called Ultra Heat Treatment or UHT.

This involves mixing the protein shake liquid then passing it through equipment called a ‘heat exchanger” which rapidly heats then cools the liquid before it is filled into the small cardboard and plastic film UHT containers.

The heating is essential because it actually sterilizes or kills all of the bugs or microbes in the drink  that would normally cause it to spoil or go “off”. The rapid cooling is also very important as it stop the proteins “curdling” which is the sign that the milk proteins have been damaged or denatured.

As you know, products like fresh milk will only last about 0 days in your fridge, while UHT treated milk will usually last more than a year without any refrigeration if it isn’t opened.Quality manufacturing is extremely important when making this type of product.
